Who Are You Being?

Today is moving day.

After twenty-five years, I'm closing the door on the home where my family built a life together and beginning a new chapter in Maui.

Over the past several weeks, I've spent my days deciding what would make the journey with me. Along the way, I gave away my grandmother's china. I gave away the Christmas village my mother-in-law spent years collecting for me, adding one new piece every Christmas. I watched pieces of my past become part of someone else's future.

I expected those moments to revolve around the things themselves.

Instead, they kept bringing me back to one question.

Who am I being?

This move has asked more of me than I ever imagined. Aside from my husband flying home to help pack the shipping container, every decision has been mine to make. Every obstacle has asked me to choose between the familiar life I've always known and the one I've been dreaming about.

Somewhere along the way, I stopped thinking about moving.

I started paying attention to the woman making the move.

That's where identity lives.

It isn't found in what we own, where we live, or the stories we tell about our past.

It reveals itself through the choices we make when life asks us to grow.

This move didn't create a new version of me.

It revealed one.

That realization has stayed with me because I think life is constantly asking the same question.

Who are you being while you're creating the life you want?

Every answer becomes part of your future long before you ever see the result.

The Story Behind Reinventing Myself

I created my Reinventing Myself journal while I was packing this house.

That probably tells you everything you need to know about why it exists.

Boxes surrounded me.

Every room reminded me that my life was changing.

There was always another decision waiting to be made.

I found myself returning to this journal because it gave me a place to sort through something much bigger than a move.

It gave me a place to explore who I was becoming.

The little bee-winged girl on the cover became a reflection of that journey. Every time I opened these pages, I returned to the same question.

Who am I being?

By the time I closed the journal, I realized I already knew the answer.

This journal became part of the process of stepping into a new chapter. It reminded me that reinvention isn't something we wait for. It begins the moment we choose to live as the person we're becoming.

If you're standing at the beginning of a new season in your own life, I hope these pages become a place where you can meet yourself, dream freely, and write the story you're ready to live.
